In the early seventies, the Vietnam War was still raging and the U.S. Government did not recognize the People’s Republic of China. Relations between China and the Untied States had not thawed.  有人担心，美国和中国之间的潜在对抗可能导致华裔美国人被监禁，就像二战期间日裔美国人所经历的那样.

W. Ting, H.C. Tai, Charles Wang和Andrew Yang.

On May 26, 1972, over 200 people attended ACA’s inaugural dinner at the Chin Tiki Restaurant.  Lt. 州长詹姆斯·H. 来自密歇根的布里克利发表了主题演讲, and officiated at the installation of the first 董事会.

The 唐人街医疗诊所 in downtown Detroit was a long time dream of Dr. Sik吴叮.  Under the leadership of the ACA Social Welfare Committee Chairperson, George Lim Poy, Sr.1973年9月9日，它成为了现实.  这项使命是为当时居住在唐人街地区的大约300名年长的华裔美国人提供医疗和社会服务.

A 华人社区中心 (CCC) in Madison Heights, MI

ACA has always dreamed of owning a Community Center, 对我们来说, 社区的利益, 一个家外的家.
